Wahroonga

Addition and Renovation

Overview

  • 1st floor addition
  • Bathroom renovation
  • Laundry renovation
  • Outdoor entertaining area
  • New timber stairs

This 1950 double brick house in Wahroonga needed a facelift. We started by altering the existing first floor addition to make the room larger and improve the street appeal.

The front door and foyer was really dark and small. We removed a few walls and the existing staircase that was concealed between two walls, which was replaced with a new hardwood staircase with wrought iron balustrades.

The original bathroom was separated into two rooms dividing the bathroom and toilet, so we removed the dividing wall to make one larger bathroom instead.

The back deck was a concrete slab with the original floor tiles. We framed over the existing deck and installed 138-millimetre Blackbutt hardwood decking.

We built and installed a timber pergola frame to support the operable Vergola roofing that can be closed to keep the weather out or opened to allow sunlight and fresh air in.

The addition of an outdoor kitchen – complete with BBQ, bar fridge and sink – really finished off this outdoor entertaining haven.
